When I first encountered the hypertext narratives, the format seems interesting and really new to me personally. So, I was reading it with excitement just by the clicking hidden buttons and going into whole different text rooms. But, after realizing those narratives are containing thoughtful and deep personal stories, I got immersed to the story more and made me feel disheartened and depressed.
I found some of the readings are provoking and triggering, but at the same time, I believe those topics are serious social issues to confront. Obadike’s hypertext narratives’ hidden texts are surely impressive as if the person is hiding her pain or the social pressure that sexual harassment is regarded something to be hidden because it is more critical to female victims.
Malloy’s “paths of memory and painting” provided inspiration for my midterm few weeks ago. Because I loved the way viewers could click on each box, and the box color gets changed.
I could not get to finish up all the games since I get easily triggered by explicit story of depressions, but as I have went through the pages to see how the hypertext is working, I consider it is a great tool to make viewers get fully immersed to the story.
